Four New Ambassadors Present Credentials to Mali’s Head of State

Bamako, April 16, 2026 - Mali’s diplomatic landscape expanded on Thursday as President of the Transition and Head of State, General Assimi Goïta, received the credentials of four newly appointed resident ambassadors during an official ceremony at the Koulouba Palace.

The ceremony formalized the accreditation of several key diplomatic representatives. Among them were Viviana Hernandez, Ambassador-designate of Cuba; Alberto Cerezo, Ambassador-designate of the European Union; Umar Sanda Ahmed, Ambassador-designate of Ghana; and Ahmed Turki Al-Subaie, Ambassador-designate of the State of Qatar.

Each diplomat was received in audience by the Malian Head of State following the presentation of their credentials, marking the official start of their respective missions in the country.

During the ceremony, President Goïta highlighted the importance of maintaining strong and constructive relations with international partners. He praised the quality of existing diplomatic ties and reiterated Mali’s commitment to further strengthening both bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The Head of State emphasized that such partnerships would continue to be guided by principles of openness, mutual respect, and shared benefit, as Mali seeks to reinforce its position on the regional and international stage.

The accreditation of these ambassadors reflects ongoing diplomatic engagement between Mali and a diverse group of global partners, underscoring the country’s efforts to broaden its international cooperation framework.
