Former MP Mansour Haidara Assassinated Near Bamako
Bamako, September 29, 2025 - Abdoul Djalil Mansour Haidara, former member of Mali’s National Assembly and prominent religious and media figure, was killed by unidentified gunmen on the road to Ségou, approximately 150 kilometers from Bamako.
According to sources close to his family, Haidara was targeted while attempting to pass a stationary vehicle and was struck by heavy gunfire, dying instantly. The attack occurred in a region that has seen repeated assaults by the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims in recent weeks.
Haïdara, a former member of the Rally for Mali party, served in parliament from 2013 to 2020 and was also a member of Mali’s High Islamic Council. His death has drawn widespread mourning from Mali’s political community, Muslim leaders, and the press.
