Flag Presentation to the United Force of the Sahel States Alliance (UF-AES)
Bamako, December 20, 2025 - General Assimi Goïta presided over the flag presentation ceremony for the United Force of the Sahel States Alliance (UF-AES), marking a significant step in the shared defense commitment of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
The UF-AES is tasked with coordinating counterterrorism operations and responding to cross-border threats, reinforcing the Sahelian states’ sovereign defense capabilities independent of traditional alliances. This initiative paves the way for joint military exercises, enhancing regional integration and coordination, and potentially boosting public confidence in security measures.
