Finance Ministry Says USD 137 Million Disbursed From Eurobond

By Jean-Marc Okito2 min read

Kinshasa, August 8, 2026 - The Ministry of Finance said USD 137.894 million has been disbursed from the Democratic Republic of the Congo's recent Eurobond issuance for major infrastructure projects.

The ministry said USD 48.035 million has been allocated to the integrated Grand Katende hydroelectric project, while USD 89.859 million has been designated for the modernization of N'djili and Luano international airports. It said an additional USD 200 million is expected to be released in the coming days for the Kinshasa Northeast Ring / Route du Fleuve and the RN4 Kisangani-Beni road project.

Before the end of the year, at least USD 300 million more is expected to be disbursed for ongoing works at N'djili airport and Grand Katende. The funds are being handled through public accountants managing interest-bearing creditor accounts, a structure the ministry says is intended to improve financial traceability and help offset coupon costs linked to the Eurobond.

The disbursements point to the government's focus on transport and energy bottlenecks that affect trade, logistics and industrial development. Execution quality and transparency will be key for investors assessing whether the Eurobond proceeds translate into bankable infrastructure gains.
