Finance Ministry Says USD 137 Million Already Disbursed from Eurobond

Kinshasa, DRC, August 8, 2026 - The Ministry of Finance announced on August 8 that a total of USD 137.894 million has already been disbursed from the recent Eurobond issuance. This funding is earmarked for critical infrastructure projects, with USD 48.035 million allocated for the integrated Grand Katende hydroelectric project and USD 89.859 million designated for the modernization of N’djili and Luano international airports. The government plans to release an additional USD 200 million in the coming days, which will support the Kinshasa Northeast Ring / Route du Fleuve and the RN4 Kisangani-Beni road project.

The Finance Ministry indicated that before the end of the year, at least USD 300 million more will be disbursed for ongoing projects at N’djili airport and the Grand Katende hydroelectric facility. These funds are being executed through public accountants who manage interest-bearing creditor accounts, a move aimed at enhancing financial traceability and offsetting coupon costs associated with the Eurobond.

This strategic financial maneuver is part of the DRC's broader efforts to improve its infrastructure and stimulate economic growth. The government is focusing on enhancing transportation and energy capabilities, which are critical for attracting foreign investment and fostering regional trade.
