Finance Minister Defends Macro Policy And International Market Access
Kinshasa, August 25, 2026 - Finance Minister Doudou Fwamba defended the Suminwa II government's economic record and said reforms were strengthening revenue mobilization, currency stability and access to international capital markets.
In a televised accountability review on August 25, Fwamba said the executive had acted under the 2024-2028 action program to stabilize the macroeconomic framework and improve public financial management after earlier franc pressure that affected purchasing power, including for public-sector wages.
He highlighted DRC's entry into international financial markets as a step to build sovereign credibility, establish a yield curve and secure financing on more favorable terms. Fwamba argued the country now had manageable debt margins to fund priorities.
For investors, the message points to continued reliance on external borrowing and donor programs alongside domestic revenue reforms, with execution speed on financed projects remaining a key indicator of policy credibility.
