DRC: the Grand Moulin de Kinshasa produces 30,000 tonnes of flour per month, well above local demand
The Grand Moulin de Kinshasa (GMK) now produces 30,000 tonnes of wheat flour each month, while local demand is estimated at 20,000 tonnes, said Foreign Trade Minister Julien Paluku during his visit to the factory's facilities on 7 October in Ngaliema. The minister praised GMK's production capacity and announced measures to safeguard the local industry and protect the company from unfair competition from imported flour, particularly from Angola.
He also encouraged producers to increase their production in order to strengthen the presence of "Made in DRC" products on national markets.
