DRC signs $100 million telecom infrastructure deal with Helios Towers to expand national
Kinshasa, March 31, 2026 - The Democratic Republic of Congo has signed an investment agreement worth more than 100 million US dollars aimed at expanding telecommunications infrastructure across several provinces.
The agreement was concluded between the National Agency for Investment Promotion (ANAPI) and Helios Towers DRC, a company specializing in the construction and management of shared telecommunications infrastructure.
The project is intended to support the government’s broader digital transformation agenda, aligned with the National Digital and Inclusion Plan 2025 and the “DRC Digital 2030” strategy, which seeks to position the country as a regional digital hub in Central Africa.
According to Helios Towers DRC management, the investment will focus on the expansion of mobile network infrastructure, including the installation of telecommunications towers in both urban and rural areas to improve coverage and service quality.
The company reported that more than 4,000 jobs have already been created through its operations in the country, with expectations of additional employment opportunities as infrastructure deployment expands.
Officials from ANAPI described the agreement as a signal of growing investor confidence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, attributing it to ongoing reforms aimed at improving the business environment and strengthening economic governance.
The initiative is expected to contribute to national development priorities, particularly in improving digital access, fostering economic inclusion, and supporting the structural transformation of the economy through expanded connectivity.
