DRC Showcases Mining Strategy on Global Stage

TORONTO, March 3, 2026 - The Democratic Republic of Congo presented its mining strategy at the annual Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC 2026) convention, highlighting investment opportunities and sustainable development in the sector.

Led by Minister of Mines Louis Watum Kabamba, the DRC delegation emphasized reforms in governance, transparency, traceability, and local transformation through special economic zones. These initiatives reflect the vision of President Félix Tshisekedi and coordination by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka to position the DRC as a responsible, strategic player in the global mining industry.

Minister Watum Kabamba stressed: “It’s not enough to have critical minerals. We must create the conditions necessary for investment to transform this potential into tangible wealth. Our laws and administration are the investor’s best allies.” He underscored fiscal stability, streamlined administrative procedures, and a modernized regulatory framework as tools to attract responsible investors.

The delegation showcased the DRC’s mining potential through booths representing the Ministry of Mines and Lualaba Province, reinforcing the country’s international visibility and the modernization of its sector.

In addition, the minister participated in the 11th International Summit of Mining Ministers, focusing on aligning strategies between producing and consuming countries, securing supply chains, and financing energy-transition projects.

The DRC’s presence at PDAC 2026 aims to stimulate new investments in local exploration and processing, foster strategic partnerships with global developers and financiers, and strengthen its recognition as a critical player in global mineral security, while advancing the country’s economic transformation and contribution to the global energy transition.
