DRC-Rwanda Peace and Cooperation Agreement

President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) confirmed that the DRC is committed to implementing all provisions of the peace and economic cooperation agreement with Rwanda, including the dismantling of armed groups.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony in the United States, with both countries pledging mutual respect, non-interference, and cooperation.
The DRC will dismantle armed groups, including the FDLR terrorist organization and affiliates.
Rwanda will remove its security measures currently in place.
Both countries will collaborate to combat and prevent support to armed groups.
Joint development projects, including the Rusizi III hydroelectric dam.
Shared management of Lake Kivu resources.
Cooperation in trade, mining, and environmental protection.
Promote lasting peace, security, and development in the region.
Foster a new era of partnership and collaboration benefiting citizens of both countries.
President Tshisekedi emphasized vigilance, continuity in peace efforts, and the importance of mutual respect.
The United States indicated that full implementation of this agreement would support regional stability and development.
This agreement represents a major step toward resolving long-standing conflicts in the Great Lakes region and enhancing bilateral cooperation between the DRC and Rwanda.
