DRC: Religious Denominations Join Campaign for Genocide Recognition
Kinshasa, November 25, 2025 - Kinshasa, DRC - On Friday, November 28, 2025, religious denominations across the Democratic Republic of Congo confirmed their support for the campaign promoting the recognition of the Congolese genocide, during a meeting with Minister of Human Rights Samuel Mbemba in Kinshasa.
Pastors and imams from the platform pledged to disseminate the resolutions of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights and African civil society in their places of worship, reinforcing a shared understanding of the violence suffered in the eastern DRC.
Among the representatives, Archbishop Evariste Ejiba emphasized that this commitment would allow the Congolese people to speak with one voice. Minister Mbemba welcomed this support, noting that it strengthens an initiative led by President Félix Tshisekedi.
