DRC: Prime Minister Suminwa Urges Government Unity Amid Security Crisis

Kinshasa, December 19, 2025 - During the 71st session of the Council of Ministers, held on Friday at the African Union City complex, Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka called on members of the government to demonstrate cohesion, discipline, and collective commitment in responding to the country’s ongoing security and socio-economic challenges.

The Prime Minister pointed to the continued expansion of the AFC/M23 rebellion, backed by Rwanda, as a major threat to national stability. While acknowledging progress made in governance and political stability, she stressed that significant efforts remain necessary to improve the daily living conditions of the Congolese population.

Government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya announced that a comprehensive evaluation of government performance will be conducted in January 2026, covering the period from August to December 2025. The assessment aims to draw lessons from the past months and enhance the effectiveness of the current administration.

The Suminwa II government comprises 53 members, including 6 Deputy Prime Ministers, 12 Ministers of State, 24 Ministers, 5 Deputy Ministers, and 6 Under-Ministers.
