DRC: Prime Minister Suminwa Unveils 2026 Budget Prioritizing Security, Economy, and Social Protection

Kinshasa, November 18, 2025 - Prime Minister Judith Suminwa presented the Democratic Republic of Congo’s 2026 draft budget to the National Assembly, totaling 59.021 billion Congolese francs (approximately US$25 billion), marking a 16% increase compared to the revised 2025 budget.

The budget prioritizes national security and defense (11.896 billion), economic development including infrastructure, agriculture, and industry (11.972 billion), education (6.657 billion), health (5.579 billion), and social protection (1.211 billion).

Suminwa detailed the overall allocation: a general budget of 53.654 billion, supplementary budgets of 962 billion, and special accounts totaling 4.404 billion. She emphasized that the funds are intended to strengthen military capabilities, drive economic growth, and improve social services, while remaining adaptable to evolving macroeconomic conditions.
