DRC Prepares for COP 30 with Launch of National Climate Week

Kinshasa, DRC - In anticipation of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 30), scheduled for 10-21 November 2025 in Belém, Brazil, the Congolese government will launch National Climate Week on Monday, 28 October 2025.

The announcement was made on Thursday, 23 October, by Minister of the Environment Marie Nyange during a joint press briefing with Minister of Communication and Media Patrick Muyaya. The initiative, backed by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa, aims to mobilize public authorities, the private sector, civil society, indigenous peoples, and local communities around strategies that will enable the DRC to defend its environmental priorities at COP 30.

Minister Nyange stressed the importance of strong state leadership and an inclusive approach to addressing the country’s climate and forestry challenges, highlighting the DRC’s commitment to sustainable development and international climate cooperation.
