Kinshasa - The National Assembly has adopted the 2026 budget, totaling 54,335.8 billion Congolese francs, underlining the emphasis on security and national defense amid ongoing conflict in eastern DRC.

Presented by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa, the draft budget now proceeds to the Senate for review. Nearly 30% of expenditures are allocated to security, while agriculture, education, health, and social protection remain key priorities.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Aimé Boji, expressed Parliament’s solidarity with the population and armed forces facing Rwandan aggression, while ECOFIN Committee Chairman Guy Mafuta Kabongo described the budget as realistic and suited to the current economic and humanitarian context of the DRC.
