DRC Launches National Campaign to Combat Price Speculation

Kinshasa, October 22, 2025 - The Ministry of National Economy launched a nationwide campaign on 22 October 2025 to curb price speculation and stabilize the domestic market, safeguarding household purchasing power.

Covering the 2024 and 2025 financial years, the operation targets regulatory compliance, accurate price display, and the effects of the Congolese franc’s appreciation. Inspectors and control agents, using the “TALO” digital application, have been tasked with monitoring small and medium-sized enterprises across the country.

Albert Kasongo, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Economy, highlighted the discipline, integrity, and efficiency expected of the agents. Provincial officials also pledged to ensure a transparent and fair market, benefiting Congolese consumers and reinforcing confidence in the national economy.
