Kinshasa, DRC - The Democratic Republic of Congo is stepping up efforts to revive agricultural production in Greater Equateur. On October 30, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy, Daniel Mukoko Samba, and Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Muhindo Nzangi, announced the creation of a joint government team dedicated to revitalizing local agricultural enterprises.

The initiative follows an eight-day field mission by Mukoko Samba to Mongala and Sud-Ubangi provinces, where he evaluated conditions at the Bwamanda Integrated Development Center. Once a cornerstone of regional agricultural production, the facility remains operational but faces decline in the cultivation of coffee, corn, cocoa, and soybeans.

The joint team is tasked with strengthening the agricultural value chain, boosting national production, and ensuring food security, aligning with President Félix Tshisekedi’s strategic priorities for the sector. Officials emphasized that a concrete action plan will be implemented with the aim of delivering visible results within the next two weeks, signaling a renewed government push to support farmers and stimulate rural economies in the region.
