DRC: Judith Suminwa launches the first National Human Rights Forum to strengthen the rule of law

Prime Minister Judith Suminwa opened the first edition of the National Human Rights Forum on Thursday, 9 October 2025, at the People's Palace in Kinshasa, reaffirming her government's commitment to building a just society that respects fundamental freedoms. She emphasised that the promotion of human rights is the foundation of national cohesion and sustainable development in the DRC.

The Minister for Human Rights, Samuel Mbemba, stressed the need to bridge the gap between the law and the reality experienced by citizens, while calling for transitional justice and recognition of the Genocost. This forum, focused on memory, justice and legislation, marks a step towards greater collaboration between the state and civil society to consolidate the rule of law.
