DRC: Interior Minister Urges Vigilance Against Urban Crime During Holidays
Kinshasa, December 6, 2025 - The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior and Security, Jacquemain Shabani Lukoo, has called on residents of Kinshasa to remain vigilant during the end-of-year festivities to prevent crime and urban banditry.
The warning follows an expanded meeting of the Provincial Security Committee, which brought together municipal authorities, local administrative officials, and security services to anticipate potential risks linked to the holiday influx of people and festive activities.
Minister Shabani emphasized that the initiative aligns with directives from the recent Council of Ministers, which instructed all 26 provinces to implement appropriate measures to ensure peaceful celebrations. Similar exercises are expected to be carried out across the country under the coordination of provincial governors.
