DRC: Félix Tshisekedi welcomes the World Bank's approval of a $250 million loan for Inga 3

Kinshasa, October 9, 2025 - During his visit to Brussels, Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi met with Ajaypal Singh Banga, President of the World Bank Group, to discuss economic cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the World Bank. On this occasion, he expressed his gratitude to the World Bank for its continued support to the DRC.

He particularly welcomed the World Bank Board of Directors' recent approval of a US$250 million credit under the International Development Association (IDA), representing the first phase of a US$1 billion programme dedicated to the development of the Inga 3 hydroelectric project. This programme aims to improve the living conditions of more than one million people in the province of Kongo Central.

President Tshisekedi reaffirmed his government's commitment to ensuring transparent and accountable governance in the implementation of this strategic project for the country's energy development.
