DRC-CAR: 600-Metre Bridge to Connect Bangui and Zongo
Kinshasa, October 23, 2025 - A 600-metre bridge is set to be constructed over the Oubangui River, linking the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with the Central African Republic (CAR) as part of the Douala-Mombasa road corridor.
The strategic infrastructure project, supported jointly by the two countries and backed by ECCAS and the African Development Bank, aims to facilitate cross-border trade, strengthen regional economic integration, and boost commerce.
During a site visit on 23 October 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Daniel Mukoko Samba also inspected the central port of Zongo to evaluate trade operations. Local authorities say the bridge, together with a modern border post on the Congolese side, will ease movement for the population and serve as a catalyst for development in Zongo and the wider South Ubangi province.
