Djibouti Security Forces Arrest 125 in Major Anti-Crime Operation

Djibouti, May 17, 2026 - Djiboutian security forces arrested 125 people during a large-scale anti-crime operation carried out across several neighborhoods of the capital, authorities announced on Saturday.

According to security officials, the operation was conducted by units of the National Guard with support from mobile police forces as part of ongoing efforts to combat rising criminal activity in the city.

The raids targeted several areas considered sensitive by authorities, including West Salines, Arhiba, Maka Al Moukaram, the Riyadh market district, and zones surrounding Siesta Beach.

Officials said the operation was launched on the basis of intelligence gathering and judicial investigations focused on individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities.

Among those arrested were individuals accused of participating in organized vehicle theft operations targeting parked cars in the capital.

Authorities stated that suspects connected to criminal investigations were taken into custody for further questioning and legal procedures.
