Djibouti launches largest housing project “Salaam City” with Saudi-backed funding
Djibouti City, Djibouti, March 30, 2026 - President Ismail Omar Guelleh has laid the foundation stone for “Salaam City,” the largest residential development project in the country’s history. The project, partly financed with an estimated $30 million from Saudi funding, is expected to deliver thousands of housing units as part of efforts to address urban growth and housing demand. Officials say Salaam City will play a key role in expanding access to modern housing while supporting economic activity in the construction sector.
