Djibouti and Italy Renew Commitment to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation
Djibouti, June 8, 2026 - The Republic of Djibouti and the Italian Republic have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during a high-level meeting held in Djibouti between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Government Spokesperson, Abdoulkader Houssein Omar, and the Italian Ambassador to Djibouti, Sem Fabrizi.
The discussions took place as part of regular diplomatic consultations between the two countries, reflecting what both sides described as a steadily growing partnership built on friendship and cooperation.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the current state of Djibouti-Italy relations and explore avenues for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors of mutual interest. Both officials emphasized the importance of strengthening existing ties while identifying new areas of partnership capable of supporting shared development goals.
Talks also focused on enhancing political dialogue and promoting practical cooperation initiatives in line with the common priorities of both nations. The two sides reiterated their commitment to maintaining regular engagement and deepening collaboration based on mutual respect, trust, and shared interests.
Djibouti’s Foreign Affairs Ministry highlighted that the meeting forms part of the country’s broader diplomatic strategy to reinforce partnerships with international allies and expand cooperation frameworks that contribute to national development.
Both Djibouti and Italy concluded by reaffirming their intention to further strengthen bilateral relations and continue exploring new opportunities for cooperation in the coming period.
