Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) Success
GOUDOUMARIA, Diffa Region-In a landmark event for peace and reconciliation, 91 former Boko Haram combatants, including 18 women and 33 children, were formally reintegrated into society on Wednesday, October 22. Presided over by the Governor of Diffa, General Mahamadou Ibrahim Bagadoma, the solemn ceremony saw the beneficiaries swear on the Quran to renounce violence. This seventh wave of repentant individuals under the state's DDR program, which includes psychological support, vocational training, and reintegration kits, highlights the government's dual-track strategy of combining military pressure with initiatives aimed at dismantling extremist networks through social and economic reintegration.
