Confederal Bank for Investment and Development Launched to Boost AES Economic Integration
Ouagadougou, December 12, 2025 - The President of the Transition and President of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), General Assimi Goïta, on December 11 met with the Ministers of Economy and Finance of Burkina Faso, who, alongside representatives from Mali and Niger, presented the results of technical preparations for the launch of the Confederal Bank for Investment and Development (BCID-AES).
The ministers, led by Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo, announced a key milestone: the validation and signing of the BCID-AES statutes, officially establishing the bank. This strategic institution is designed to mobilize sovereign resources and finance projects of high regional importance.
Road infrastructure and access to remote areas,
Private sector projects aligned with national priorities.
Capital commitments from the three member states, combined with a planned confederal tax, have allowed the BCID-AES to enter its operational phase. The next steps include appointing the bank’s administrators and launching a campaign to raise additional funds.
President Goïta emphasized the institution’s strategic importance, stating that the BCID-AES will be the most effective tool for promoting independence and advancing economic development within the AES region.
