Community Health and Food Security Initiatives Scale Up Nationwide
DIFFA / NATIONWIDE, Niger - November 11 - A series of major social development programs advanced across the country, underscoring the government's focus on human security, public health, and sustainable development:
· National Community Relay Day was marked on November 9, with Interior Minister General Mohamed Toumba commending community health relays for their “exemplary engagement” in extending state services to remote areas and serving as essential links between local populations and public institutions.
· The National Household Food Security Survey (Sites Sentinelles 2025) launched intensive investigator training in Diffa on November 11. The initiative establishes a nationwide data collection system monitoring food security across 125 sentinel sites, enabling rapid response to emerging vulnerabilities.
· Ahead of upcoming presidential visits, regional governments intensified sanitation and beautification campaigns, particularly in Maradi and Diffa, where municipal authorities mobilized substantial resources to showcase development progress and demonstrate public support for the transition authorities.
