Central Bank Launches Platform To Track Foreign Capital Flows
Khartoum, August 26, 2026 - The Central Bank of Sudan launched an electronic system to monitor foreign capital and investment flows, a step aimed at tightening digital oversight and supporting monetary stability during a period of severe economic stress.
The Electronic Capital Flows System will be operated by the central bank's foreign exchange administration and is designed to record and regulate foreign capital moving into and out of the country.
The platform automates administrative procedures for foreign investors and allows online tracking of transactions through a central portal. It will also build a unified database covering investor profiles, economic sectors, source countries, capital volumes, and transaction flows.
Authorities said the system will track the full investment cycle, including capital registration, profit remittances, loan servicing, and capital repatriation. Commercial bank employees have completed operational training ahead of the nationwide rollout.
For investors, the system could improve regulatory transparency and balance-of-payments data, but its effectiveness will depend on implementation capacity, banking-sector connectivity, and the broader security environment.
