Central African Republic Court Confirms Touadéra’s Presidential Victory

Kigali, January 24, 2026 - The Constitutional Court of the Central African Republic (CAR) has officially confirmed the victory of President Faustin-Archange Touadéra in the December 28, 2025 presidential election. The elections were held alongside votes for the National Assembly and local authorities, with the electoral commission reporting a 52.42% turnout of more than 2.3 million registered voters.

Two weeks prior, the commission had announced that Touadéra won with 76.15% of the vote, defeating seven other candidates, including Anicet-Georges Dologuélé, who received 13.5% and petitioned the court to annul the results, alleging fraud.

On January 19, 2026, the court declared Touadéra the winner with 77.9% of the vote, dismissing Dologuélé’s challenge.

President Touadéra, in power since 2016, is eligible for a third term following a constitutional revision in 2023.

After the court’s confirmation, Touadéra told reporters he would focus on furthering peace, security, and good governance, while improving infrastructure for the population. He acknowledged progress in his administration’s first two terms but noted that gaps remain to be addressed in his third term.
