Burkina Faso Strengthens Partnership with WFP Through Inclusive Planning
Ouagadougou, December 17, 2025 - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad, His Excellency Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, received the Resident Representative and Country Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), Mr. Sory Ouane, in audience on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
During the meeting, Mr. Ouane presented WFP’s new operational plan for Burkina Faso, emphasizing a participatory and inclusive approach that involves government stakeholders in its development. He highlighted prior consultations with the Ministries of Agriculture and Economy to ensure alignment with national priorities.
Minister Traoré welcomed this vision, stressing that communication and transparency are essential for effective collaboration. He encouraged the WFP team to maintain this inclusive approach to prevent misunderstandings that can arise from decisions made without proper stakeholder involvement.
The meeting reflects Burkina Faso’s commitment to strengthening dialogue and coordination with international partners, particularly in the context of ongoing challenges affecting food security and national development.
