Burkina Faso Strengthens Human Rights Protection Through MJDHRI-OHCHR Training
Koudougou, December 18, 2025 - The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, responsible for relations with institutions (MJDHRI) concluded a three-day intensive training session for members of the Consultation, Monitoring, and Early Warning Framework on alleged human rights violations and abuses. The program emphasized a human rights-based approach (HRBA) and the mandate of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
The session, which ran from December 16 to 18, 2025, was part of the roadmap to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Framework following its recent evaluation.
The closing ceremony was chaired by Secretary General of MJDHRI, Harouna Kadio, represented by Project Manager Mathias Sam, and attended by Marcel Zongo, Director General of Human Rights (DGDH), Abdou Dramane Bakayoko, Deputy Resident Representative of OHCHR, and members of the Consultation Framework from various ministries, technical directorates, national institutions, and UN agencies.

The training also provided a platform to review previous cases, discuss the functioning of the Framework, and strengthen coordination mechanisms.
In his remarks, the Head of Mission highlighted the importance of the modules in building the capacities of Framework members and praised OHCHR’s continued support in advancing Burkina Faso’s human rights protection and defense policies.
Through this joint initiative, the MJDHRI and OHCHR reaffirmed their commitment to a harmonized, effective national system for the promotion and protection of human rights, fully aligned with international standards.
