Burkina Faso Strengthens Diplomatic and Agricultural Ties: FAO Representative and Outgoing Brazilian Ambassador Meet Min

Ouagadougou, December 13, 2025 - On Friday, December 12, His Excellency Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Burkinabe Abroad, held meetings with two diplomatic figures to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The first audience was with the new FAO Representative, Mr. Ernest Moïse Mushekuru, who presented his letters of appointment. Mr. Mushekuru reaffirmed the FAO’s commitment to supporting Burkina Faso’s agricultural development priorities, commending government efforts to ensure food security and territorial stability.

Minister Traoré pledged the Ministry’s support for the FAO Representative and encouraged the organization to align its interventions with national priorities, emphasizing local stakeholder involvement to achieve tangible results on the ground.

Following this meeting, the Minister received Her Excellency Ellen Barros, outgoing Ambassador of Brazil to Burkina Faso, who concluded her five-year mission. Ambassador Barros highlighted the strong cooperation between Brazil and Burkina Faso, particularly in agriculture, livestock, research, and innovation.

Minister Traoré expressed appreciation for the strengthened friendly relations and wished Ambassador Barros success in her future endeavors.
