Burkina Faso: Labor Advisory Commission Opens Its 2nd Ordinary Session With Four Key Draft Decrees on the Table

Ouagadougou, November 19, 2025 - The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Service, Labor and Social Protection, Suanyaba Rodrigue Oboulbiga, officially opened the 2nd Ordinary Session of the Labor Advisory Commission (CCT) on Wednesday in Ouagadougou. The three-day session, held from November 19 to 21, 2025, will focus on reviewing four major draft regulatory texts aimed at strengthening the national labor framework.

Among the documents submitted for examination is a draft decree establishing working conditions for domestic employees-a sector often marked by informality and limited legal protection. Another key text concerns the procedures for filing, publishing, translating, adhering to, and withdrawing from collective bargaining agreements, a move intended to modernize social dialogue mechanisms.

The commission will also review two additional draft decrees:

one regulating the functioning of employment placement agencies and temporary work agencies, and

another defining and sanctioning violations of the Labor Code and its implementing provisions.

In his opening address, Secretary-General Oboulbiga praised the commission members for their unwavering dedication to promoting constructive social dialogue and maintaining stability in the world of work.

“I would like to emphasize the quality of the work you accomplished during the first session of this year. Your contribution to the review of the draft texts relating to staff representatives and the procedures for communicating internal regulations was remarkable,” he said.

Turning to the four draft decrees under review, Mr. Oboulbiga encouraged participants to pursue their deliberations in a climate of serenity, mutual respect, and consensus-building.

“I sincerely hope that your reflections and recommendations will lead to clear and operational texts that promote sustainable social progress,” he added before formally declaring the session open.

This second ordinary session marks another step toward reinforcing the legal and institutional environment governing labor relations in Burkina Faso, with outcomes expected to shape policy implementation in key segments of the country’s workforce.
