Burkina Faso: DGIA Reviews Implementation of Budget Program 137 on African Integration
Ouagadougou, November 20, 2025 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad, through the Directorate-General for African Integration (DGIA), held on Thursday its third review session of Budget Program 137: “African Integration.” The meeting was chaired by the Director-General for African Integration, Ambassador Marie Bernadette Conrad Nikiema/Tapsoba.
This framework for dialogue aimed primarily at assessing the implementation of Program 137 since the previous review session in October 2024, and at identifying the main challenges that hindered its execution on the ground.
According to Ambassador Nikiema/Tapsoba, the session also sought to harmonize the interventions of various sectoral ministries involved in promoting African integration, in order to improve coordination and ensure greater coherence in national actions.
In light of recent geopolitical developments-particularly the creation of the Confederation of Sahel States (CES)-the Director-General stressed the need to align all regional and subregional integration initiatives with the current strategic dynamics. “It is essential that every action promoting regional and subregional integration be coordinated and consistent with the evolving context,” she stated.
Program 137 is one of the six budget programs managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is specifically dedicated to advancing regional integration efforts within Burkina Faso.
