Burkina Faso-Belgium Cooperation: Foreign Minister Traoré and Ambassador De Wandel Review Priority Issues
Ouagadougou, November 17, 2025 - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, granted an audience on Monday to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Erwin De Wandel, to review several key areas of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting focused on the adjustment of the budgetary program, the continuation of Belgium’s humanitarian support, and the need to strengthen economic and commercial cooperation between Belgian and Burkinabè companies.
On this last point, Minister Traoré stressed the importance of providing accurate and updated information on the national context to Belgian business leaders. He noted that many stakeholders continue to rely on sources spreading inaccurate information about Burkina Faso, which undermines their willingness to establish partnerships with local companies.
Ambassador De Wandel also informed the Ministry of Brussels’ ongoing review of its diplomatic network, a process currently under assessment by the Belgian authorities.
