Burkina Faso Ambassador Presents Credentials to Cuban President
Havana, December 11, 2025 - H.E. Manignan Roxane Adams Medah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Burkina Faso to the Republic of Cuba, officially assumed her duties on Saturday, December 6, after presenting her credentials to President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
The ceremony took place at the Havana Convention Center, marking a new phase in diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During subsequent discussions, Ambassador Medah conveyed the greetings of President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso to his Cuban counterpart. President Díaz-Canel expressed gratitude for Burkina Faso’s continued support for Cuba, which has faced a long-standing economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States since 1962.
Ambassador Medah stated that, under instructions from the Burkinabe head of state, this support would be reinforced and a renewed momentum given to bilateral cooperation. While current cooperation focuses mainly on health and higher education, she noted that collaboration would be expanded into additional sectors in the coming years.
Following the ceremony, the Ambassador laid a wreath at the José Martí Memorial, honoring Cuba’s national hero and a central figure in the country’s struggle for independence. This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Burkina Faso and Cuba.
Burkina Faso’s embassy in Havana, opened in 1984, is accredited to approximately 20 countries.
