Burhan Holds Unannounced Meeting with Erdoğan in Ankara
Ankara, June 3, 2026 - Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara during an unannounced visit to Turkey.
Burhan arrived in the Turkish capital earlier on Tuesday without prior public announcement from Sudanese state authorities regarding his departure.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Sudan and Turkey, with discussions centered on expanding cooperation in various sectors and advancing areas of mutual interest.
The two leaders also reviewed regional and international developments of shared concern, underscoring the importance of closer coordination amid ongoing geopolitical and security challenges.
Officials said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties and broadening collaboration in ways aimed at supporting regional stability, sustainable development, and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
