Bukavu: five dead and several injured after torrential rains
At least five people were killed and several others injured following torrential rains that fell on Bukavu on the evening of 3 September, causing flooding, landslides and destruction of homes in several neighbourhoods. According to local civil society organisations, the most serious damage was recorded on Avenue de la Montagne, Kanga axis, while other material damage affected Avenue Hewa Bora, Avenue Paysage and Avenue Kibarabara in particular.
With the rainy season now underway, the authorities are calling on the population to be vigilant in order to prevent further tragedies.
