Bukavu: Citizens Launch Peace Campaign in Eastern DRC
A citizens’ campaign for peace in eastern DRC was launched on November 11, 2025, in Bukavu, South Kivu, at the Concordia Hall of the Archbishop’s Palace.
Initiated through consultations between civil society, citizen movements, and religious groups, the campaign seeks to amplify the voices of communities affected by armed conflict and to involve them in efforts to establish lasting peace.
According to Miki Mutiki, one of the campaign initiators, the initiative aims to promote a social program for peace that integrates social, economic, cultural, and environmental dimensions, while recognizing social actors as essential stakeholders in the ongoing peace process.
