Boma: The FCDHD Rejects Suspension of Motions in Provincial Assemblies

By Jean-Marc Okito2 min readFrançais

The Fédération congolaise des droits de l’homme et de développement (FCDHD) has voiced strong opposition to the Ministry of Interior and Security’s decision to suspend motions within provincial assemblies. The reaction was delivered on Tuesday, November 11, during a public statement in Boma.

According to Gabriel Makiese, a senior official within the FCDHD, the measure encourages poor governance and opaque management of resources in Kongo Central by restricting the provincial assembly’s essential oversight and accountability role over the executive.

Makiese called on Vice Prime Minister Jacquemain Shabani to reverse the decision and urged provincial lawmakers to prioritize the interests of the province over personal or political agendas. He also condemned what he described as interference from Kinshasa in local governance.
