Bilateral Cooperation: Ambassador Appolinaire SAWADOGO Presents Credentials to Tunisian President
Tunis, November 24, 2025 - His Excellency Appolinaire SAWADOGO, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Burkina Faso to Tunisia, presented his credentials to the President of the Tunisian Republic, Kaïs Saïed, on Friday, November 21, 2025.
The ceremony, held at the Carthage Presidential Palace, allowed Ambassador Sawadogo to convey the fraternal greetings of Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, to his Tunisian counterpart. The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economy, higher education, vocational training, and health sectors.
Ambassador Sawadogo also emphasized cooperation in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, highlighting Tunisia's expertise in this field. He expressed Burkina Faso’s intention to hold the 9th session of the Joint Cooperation Commission in Tunis in 2026, following the agreement reached by both countries in July 2024.
President Kaïs Saïed, while reaffirming Tunisia’s commitment to enhanced relations with Burkina Faso, commended the historic measures taken by the Burkinabe authorities under President Traoré in defense of national and African sovereignty.
