Beni to Open Biometric Passport Capture Centre in November
Beni, October 23, 2025 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo announced on Tuesday, 21 October 2025 the upcoming launch of a biometric passport capture centre in Beni, the provisional capital of North Kivu.
Scheduled to open by the end of November at the Beni town hall, the centre aims to facilitate passport issuance for residents of Beni, Butembo, and surrounding areas, reducing the need to travel to Bunia or Kinshasa.
Anselme Ponge, head of the future centre, stated that the processing time will be approximately three weeks after completion of the required formalities, which include an online application followed by payment at Equity BCDC bank. Officials say the initiative will streamline access to travel documents and improve administrative efficiency for the region’s citizens.
