By Jean-Marc Okito3 min read

Kigali, August 24, 2026 - Bank of Kigali held talks with members of Rwanda's Chinese business community, presenting investment opportunities and plans to support yuan-denominated banking services.

The discussions, held on August 21, focused on deepening ties between the bank and Chinese residents and investors in Rwanda. Bank officials outlined financing options for private-sector clients, including loans of up to 50 million Rwandan francs.

The bank also highlighted technology linked to Alipay to ease money transfers. The initiative is aimed at improving financial services for Chinese-linked trade and investment activity in Rwanda, a potentially important channel for private capital and commercial exchange.
