Bamako Marks International Anti-Corruption Day with Youth-Focused Mobilization

Bamako, December 9, 2025 - The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights organized nationwide activities to commemorate International Anti-Corruption Day, under the theme: “United with Youth Against Corruption: Building the Integrity of Tomorrow.”

The events included conferences, workshops, and awareness campaigns engaging young people, justice actors, and civil society to promote transparency and combat economic crime.

This initiative reflects the Transitional Government’s commitment to integrating youth into anti-corruption strategies, particularly in a context where corruption continues to undermine public trust in institutions. Experts note that such engagement could strengthen civic education and help reduce corrupt practices within the public sector, aligning with the objectives of the Economic and Social Action Network (RAS) for good governance.

Independent observers, including Transparency International, welcomed the mobilization, while cautioning that without concrete legal reforms and strengthened oversight institutions such as the Office for the Control of Illicit Enrichment (Oclei), these efforts risk remaining largely symbolic, especially amid persistent allegations of corruption in the mining sector.
