Bamako, December 27, 2025 - JNIM militants announced the arrest of Malian army officer Ahmed Touré, along with two of his bodyguards, signaling an intensification of the blockade and pressure around the capital, Bamako.
This development follows an earlier incident on Friday, December 26, when JNIM reportedly raided the residence of a Malian general in Zantiguila, forcing the general’s bodyguard to flee and abandon his motorcycle.
The arrests and targeted operations highlight JNIM’s ongoing strategy to disrupt military command structures in the region and maintain pressure on the Malian armed forces, particularly near key urban centers. Authorities have urged heightened vigilance and security measures in and around Bamako.
