Bamako, April 13, 2026 - The banks of the Niger River, at the Amadou Hampâté Bâ Cultural Center, provided the backdrop on Monday for the opening ceremony of the 6th edition of the Kéla International Mandingue Music Festival (FIMAK), a major cultural event dedicated to Mandé heritage. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Crafts, Culture, Hospitality and Tourism, Mamou Daffé, represented by his Special Advisor, Adama Koïté. The festival is organized by Kaïra Ménagement Global and seeks to promote artistic diversity while showcasing Mali’s rich cultural heritage, particularly Mandingue music traditions. This year’s edition is held under the theme “The Role of Mandé in Stabilizing the Country,” highlighting the contribution of culture as a driver of peace, stability, and social cohesion. The program features a wide range of activities, including traditional music performances, exhibitions, culinary showcases, training sessions, workshops, and artistic competitions. These events aim to bring together artists, cultural actors, and the public in a shared celebration of heritage and creativity. Scheduled to run until April 19, the festival continues to position itself as a key platform for cultural exchange and the promotion of Mali’s artistic identity, while reinforcing the role of culture in fostering unity and dialogue among communities.
