Air Congo Announces Direct Kinshasa-Paris Route

By Jean-Marc Okito2 min read

Kinshasa, DRC, August 1, 2026 - National carrier Air Congo has announced the opening of a direct flight service between Kinshasa and Paris, marking a significant step in its international expansion strategy since its establishment in late 2024. While the airline has not yet disclosed the launch date, frequency, schedule, or fare details for this new route, the announcement reflects Air Congo's ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity and bolster its international presence. The airline is jointly owned, with the Congolese state holding a 51% stake and Ethiopian Airlines owning the remaining 49%.

This new service follows the recent launch of the Kinshasa-Brussels route in early July, which operates four weekly rotations using a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Air Congo's expansion includes a growing domestic network with over 14 destinations, as well as international flights to major cities such as Johannesburg, Entebbe, Cotonou, Douala, and Dar es Salaam. The addition of Paris to its route network is expected to attract both business and leisure travelers, further enhancing the airline's competitive position in the region.

Air Congo's strategic moves come at a time when the Congolese aviation market is witnessing increased activity, with airlines seeking to capitalize on the growing demand for air travel. As the airline continues to expand its international offerings, it aims to position itself as a key player in the African aviation landscape, leveraging partnerships and investments to improve its service and operational capabilities.
