Accelerating Strategic Development of the Mining Sector Through International Partnerships
Niamey, December 2, 2025 - The Prime Minister chaired a high-level investment meeting with a delegation from the Dasa Mining Company (SOMIDA), accompanied by the Ministers of Mines and Justice. At the center of the discussions was a detailed technical review of the uranium mining project stretching between Tchirozérine and Arlit, with strong emphasis on environmental safeguards, community development commitments, and the reinforcement of local content policies.
The SOMIDA delegation-led by CEO Stephan Roman-presented revised project timelines and renewed investment commitments. These updates reflect the government’s broader strategic orientation: accelerating natural resource development through rebalanced partnership models that preserve national interests and ensure greater economic returns for Niger.
Talks culminated in concrete agreements on technology transfer, capacity-building, and workforce nationalization targets. The Minister of Justice underscored the need for strict adherence to contractual obligations, highlighting the importance of robust legal frameworks and effective dispute resolution mechanisms to secure long-term sector stability.
