Abdoulaye Diop Meets Venezuelan Ambassador
Bamako, January 22, 2026 - Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Venezuela to Mali, Elio Francisco Colmenares Goyo, on Thursday for high-level discussions.
During the meeting, both officials strongly condemned what they described as the illegal intervention by the United States in Venezuela, which they said resulted in the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro, his wife, and caused numerous civilian and military casualties.
Minister Diop reaffirmed the solidarity and support of the Malian government and people with Venezuela and its authorities.
The talks also focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Mali and Venezuela, as well as expanding collaboration at the confederal level between the AES Confederation and Venezuela.
