Validation of the National Child Policy Marks Major Step for Child Protection
Kinshasa, DRC - Validated on December 4, 2025, the National Child Policy (NCP) represents a decisive step forward for the Democratic Republic of Congo, providing a guiding framework for all public actions in favor of children.
Jean Mulumba Kubayi, coordinator of the National Child Policy Committee (NCC), emphasized that the policy is an essential governance tool, particularly for guiding budgetary decisions. The NCP seeks to eradicate children separated from their families, eliminate all forms of violence, abuse, and exploitation, and strengthen the protection of minors in conflict with the law or associated with armed groups.
John Agbor, UNICEF representative, welcomed this milestone, stressing that a policy “is not just a document, but a lever for transformation” that must lead to concrete actions.
Congolese authorities described the moment as historic, reaffirming that the protection of children remains a national and international priority.
